One of our Junior members recently had the opportunity to go to Lee Valley Hockey Centre,
London and be a mascot for the Australia Woman, Great Britain Men, India Woman and
Men’s team playing in the FIA Hockey League tournament.

Here’s her account of the day:

The first team I was a mascot for was India. The team were excited to play but so friendly it
gave me lots of confidence for the rest of the day.

I then went on to mascot for Australia woman’s team before the Great Britain men’s team, I
was lucky enough to go out with Will Calnan for the GB Match.

It was an amazing atmosphere running out onto the pitch with so many people watching and cheering. Singing the Great Britain national anthem with the GB Team in front of the whole stadium was an incredible experience. Unfortunately, Great Britain lost against Australia in a very close match.

Towards the end of the day, we also got the opportunity to meet the players and play on the pitch. The players were all very kind, and playing on such a big pitch was something I never thought I would be able to do.

The whole day was an experience I will never forget.
